 Frequently Asked Questions  (FAQs)

FAQ #5 -- Can I do continuous nebulization with your system?

Answer -- Yes, you can attach a large volume continuous nebulizer to the Medicator manifold to enhance aerosol delivery during CNT.

CNT is a time saver but not very efficient with respect to aerosol delivery.  In a recent study, continuous nebulization using a specific brand of large volume device was found, upon bench testing, to be fairly inefficient.  Using a 20 mg/hour dosing scenario, the actual albuterol delivery was only 3.48 mg/hour for an adult breathing pattern and 1.83 mg/hour for a pediatric breathing pattern.

Maybe we can improve upon that.

Because the Medicator stores the aerosol generated during patient exhalation in its reservoir bag, so it can be inhaled on the following inspiration, the Medicator will enhance the aerosol delivery during continuous nebulization, just as it does with SVNs.
