Our innovations in high-efficiency radioaerosol particle
delivery for diagnostic lung scanning have led to the
spin-off of similar products for respiratory therapy and
drug delivery via the aerosol route. The development
of the Medicator® high-efficiency aerosol drug delivery
system is a direct result of our many years of research and development
in lung imaging techniques.
History
In addition to its respiratory therapy line, Healthline Medical is the parent company of Medi/Nuclear, which was
founded in 1973. In 1977, production began on Xe-133
gas and the Xeno/Cal™ Xenon Calibrator. This was followed
in 1979 with the introduction of the Xenon/Master™ Patient
Delivery System. In 1987, the AeroVent™ Radioaerosol
Delivery System was introduced. Over the years the
Aero/Vent has been improved to deliver ever-smaller aerosol
particles. The current model delivers fine particles,
over 97% of which are less than 1 µM in size, thereby
resulting in excellent peripheral penetration without
unwanted central deposition. This technical achievement
has been accomplished through our research efforts and the
clinical assistance of major medical centers. Our
newest radioaerosol delivery system for lung imaging, the Insta/Vent,™ was
introduced in 1998 and combines speed of delivery (half the
typical inhalation time) with the fine particle distribution
of the Aero/Vent™.
The result of the
many years spent in the nuclear medicine lab perfecting aerosol
delivery has been the development of two superb nebulizers and
three different high-efficiency aerosol delivery
systems. The most recent system, specifically designed
for aerosol drug delivery in respiratory therapy and related
applications has been named The Medicator®
Aerosol Maximizer. Its proven track record and
substantial market share in diagnostic
lung imaging provides ample evidence of its effectiveness.
